Sharing a snippet from my handwritten notes on the Polarity Test in transformers—a crucial step for safe and efficient parallel operation. This test ensures correct terminal connections and prevents operational issues.
📌 How the Polarity Test Works:
• Connect one terminal of the primary winding to one terminal of the secondary winding.
• Measure the voltage across the remaining unconnected terminals of both windings.
• If the measured voltage equals the sum of the primary and secondary voltages, the connected terminals have opposite polarity (Additive Polarity).
• If the measured voltage is less than the supply voltage, the connected terminals have the same polarity (Subtractive Polarity).
