# Frequently asked questions Source: https://meptools.com/docs/faq/ ## Do I need an account to use the tools? No. Guests can browse the site and open a free tool directly at its `/tools/` page, including the three calculators, without signing up. Your work is kept on that device as you go. You need an account to save a project to the cloud, reopen a saved project, or use a Pro tool. ## Where is my work if I haven't signed in? On the device you used, in that browser — the chip in the tool header reads **On this device**. It is still there when you come back, but it doesn't follow you to another device, and it is removed after 30 days without edits. Create an account and verify your email to move it into your account. See [Save status & unsaved work](/docs/save-status). ## What happens to my guest work when I sign up? Signing in claims it for your account; verifying your email moves it into your account as saved projects, newest first, up to the number of free project slots you have. Anything beyond that stays on the device, marked **Kept on this device — project limit reached**, until you delete a project or upgrade. The **Getting started** card on your [dashboard](/dashboard) tells you the numbers beforehand. ## Why can't I save my project? The most common cause is an unverified email address — saving a project requires a verified account, even though you can sign in, browse, and use tools before verifying. Resend the verification email from the banner in the app, the dashboard, or your account page, then try saving again. Other causes are named by the chip in the tool header: **Cloud save blocked** (over your project limit), **Cloud save paused** (a newer version was saved elsewhere), **Project too large** (about 1 MB per project), or **Offline**. It removes this account's unsaved edits from the device — anything the chip still reported as **On this device** or **Edits pending**. Saved projects in your account are untouched, and so is work you did as a guest before creating the account. Save before you sign out. ## What is the dashboard? Your signed-in home at [/dashboard](/dashboard): the getting-started steps, the project to resume, recent projects, unsaved work on this device, quick-launch tools you pinned or used recently, your usage, and recent activity. See [Your dashboard](/docs/dashboard). ## How many projects can I save? The Free plan includes 3 projects and Pro includes 15. If you go over the limit, the server picks your most recently updated projects at that moment, keeps those unlocked, and locks the rest — that choice is made once and doesn't re-shuffle afterwards. A locked project can still be opened, viewed, exported, and deleted, but it won't save, autosave, or rename. See [Projects](/docs/projects) for details. ## What's the difference between Free and Pro? Pro raises your project limit, removes the DRAFT export watermark, unlocks XLSX/PDF/DXF/IFC exports, removes ads, and unlocks the Pro-only tools (Plant Room Studio and Ceiling Coordination Studio). See [Plans & payments](/docs/plans-payments) for the full comparison. ## Is there a free trial? Yes — 7 days on the paid tier you select. A payment card is required up front, and you get one trial per person and per email address. ## Why do my exports have a DRAFT watermark? Guests and Free-plan users get a tiled, low-opacity "DRAFT" watermark on PNG, JPG, SVG, and PDF exports. The watermark is applied in your browser, not on the server. Upgrading to Pro removes it; JSON, CSV, and XLSX exports never carry a watermark because there's nothing visual to stamp. ## Can I use the exports for permit submittals? Watermarked draft exports are not intended for permit submittals. A Pro plan removes the watermark, but regardless of plan, checking and standing behind the output stays the engineer's responsibility — see [Engineering disclaimer](/engineering-disclaimer). ## How do I export DXF or IFC? DXF and IFC are Pro-only, run on the server, and are available only from Plant Room Studio. Other tools don't offer these formats — see [Exporting](/docs/exporting) for the full format table. ## Do you support Arabic and right-to-left? Yes. The app runs in English and Arabic with full RTL layout, and you can switch languages from the header. Some documentation pages may still be English-only. ## How do refunds work? Subscription fees are non-refundable, including for partial or unused periods, except where required by law or granted at our discretion. There is no refund window — discretionary requests are handled manually by the team. While the app shows the public-beta notice, that notice promises a full refund on request during the beta. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and you can resume it any time before then. See [Plans & payments](/docs/plans-payments). ## Why am I seeing ads? Ads show to guests and Free-plan users. Pro removes them. See [Privacy & ads](/docs/privacy-ads). ## Can I share a calculation with a colleague? Each calculator has **Copy share link** in its action rail. The link carries the inputs, so whoever opens it sees the same calculation — no account needed on either side. For a document, export a PDF (Pro) — see [Exporting](/docs/exporting). ## Can I get my data out? Yes. Your account page has a button that immediately downloads a JSON file with your profile, subscription, projects, and notifications. See [Account](/docs/account). ## How do I delete my account? Go to the account deletion page, type the word DELETE, and confirm. Deletion is immediate and permanent — it cancels your subscription and removes your projects, profile, and sign-in account, with no grace period.
