# Finding a tool

## The tools catalog

All tools live at `/tools`. You can narrow the list by:

- **Discipline** — MEP, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and so on
- **Access** — all, free, or pro
- **Type** — mini (single-page calculators) or new
- **Free-text search** — press **`/`** anywhere on the page to jump straight to the search box

- **Plant Room Studio** — design MEP plant rooms in 2D and 3D: MV switchgear, LV panels, ELV/ICT
  racks, pumps and AHUs, with live clearance validation.
- **Ceiling Coordination Studio** — plan, route, validate and auto-arrange above-ceiling MEP
  services.
- **Voltage Drop & Cable Size Checker** — check LV voltage drop using IEC, BS 7671 and NEC datasets
  or custom impedance, with the formula, table citation and assumptions shown.
- **Duct Pressure Drop Calculator** — estimate single-duct-run pressure drop: Darcy–Weisbach
  friction (Swamee–Jain), Huebscher equivalent diameter for rectangular ducts, and fitting losses
  via Sigma K or a fitting schedule, with velocity, Reynolds number, flow regime and Mach shown.
- **Water Pipe Pressure Drop & Pump Head Calculator** — formula-only plumbing hydraulics: velocity,
  Reynolds number, Darcy–Weisbach friction loss, user-entered fitting K minor loss, total pump head
  and pump power. No pipe-size, roughness, fitting or fixture-unit tables.

Each calculator shows its formulas and assumptions rather than hiding them behind a result.

The three Free tools carry the **mini** tag, meaning a single-page calculator you fill in and read
the result from immediately.

Tool codes follow `XXX-YY`: a three-letter discipline prefix (`MEP`, `ELC`, `MEC`, `PLB`, …)
followed by a two-digit catalogue number within that discipline.

## Free vs Pro tools

If you're signed out and open a Pro tool, you'll hit a sign-in wall. If you're signed in on the
Free plan and open a Pro tool, you'll see an upgrade prompt instead. Free tools are open to
everyone, signed in or not — see `/docs/getting-started` for what a guest can and can't do.

## Coming soon

**MEP Project Hub (PM-01)** is shown as a coming-soon card in the catalog. No release date is
displayed.

## Pinning tools

Once signed in, the tool cards under **Quick launch** on your [dashboard](/dashboard) have a
**Pin tool** control. Pinned tools appear first there, followed by the tools you used most
recently. Pins are stored with your account, so they follow you across devices.

Each tool has its own documentation, reachable from the **Help** menu inside the tool
(**Documentation**, **Keyboard shortcuts**, **Report an issue**, **About this tool**) or from
`/tools/<tool-id>/docs`.
