# Dimensions & annotations

Source: https://meptools.com/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/dimensions-and-annotations/

Dimensions and annotations document a layout for review and export.

## Dimensions

Use the **Dimension** verb and the **Show dimensions** toggle to display measurements on the plan.

- **Automatic dimensions** are derived from the geometry (room and equipment). You can **hide** an
automatic dimension you don't want shown.
- **Manual dimensions** are ones you add yourself between points. You can adjust a manual
dimension's **offset** (how far the dimension line sits from what it measures) and delete it.

All dimension values are in **millimetres**.

## Annotations

The **Annotate** verb adds note callouts. Select an object to annotate (_"Select an object to
annotate, or press Esc to cancel"_), then position the note.

Each annotation can show a **leader** (a line with an elbow) pointing from the note to its target.
In the inspector you can:

- Toggle **Show leader & elbow**.
- Set the **leader end** style: **None**, **Arrow**, or **Filled Circle**.
- Drag the note text or the leader elbow to reposition them.

Dimensions and annotations are included in exports — see
[Exporting](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/exporting). For cut views through the layout, see
[Section views](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/sections).
