# Plant Room Studio FAQ

## Which equipment types are supported?

A built-in library covering MV switchgear and transformers, LV distribution (MDB, SMDB, DB, MCC,
PDU, RPP, ATS, capacitor banks), backup power (UPS, batteries, generators, fuel tanks, gas
suppression), mechanical plant (AHUs, FCUs, CRACs, chillers, condensers, fans, cooling towers,
heat exchangers, pumps, tanks, calorifiers, pressure vessels), and ELV/ICT (racks, BMS, FACP,
leak panels). You can also add custom items. See
[Equipment](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/equipment).

## Are the equipment dimensions and clearances certified?

No. Library footprints, clearances, weights, and heat loads are typical datasheet values flagged
as defaults — they are **not** approved for project use. Verify them against your equipment
schedule and your authority having jurisdiction.

## What units does the tool use?

Millimetres throughout, with the origin at the bottom-left of the plan (positive X right,
positive Y up). See the [coordinate system](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/coordinate-system).

## Can I export to AutoCAD?

Yes — export to **DXF** (one layer per element type). DXF and IFC export are Pro/Team features.
See [Exporting](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/exporting).

## Can I trace over an existing CAD plan?

Yes. Import a **DXF** drawing as a background underlay and lay your equipment over it. The
underlay is a reference layer, not editable geometry.

## Do exports carry a watermark?

PNG/JPG exports carry a "DRAFT" watermark on the free and guest tiers; a Pro or Team plan removes
it. PDF, DXF and IFC export require Pro/Team and are not watermarked — on the free tier they are
not available at all. See [Exporting](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/exporting#watermarks).

## What is AutoFit, and where did Auto-Arrange go?

**AutoFit** replaces the old Auto-Arrange feature. It places equipment for you against a chosen
code and date, checking maintenance access and escape routes as it goes. See
[AutoFit](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/autofit).

## What does the validator check?

Equipment inside the room, footprint collisions, wall overlap (errors), plus clearance-zone
rules (warnings). See
[Clearance validation](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/validation).

## Does the 3D view work on mobile?

Plant Room Studio opens on a phone or narrow window as a **read-only viewer** for saved projects
— you can view the 2D and 3D layout but not edit. Build layouts on a desktop-width screen.
