Cut section lines on the plan for section views, and section planes in the 3D model.
Sections cut through the layout so you can show equipment heights and clearances on a cut plane.
Plant Room Studio has two related tools.
2D section lines
Use the Section ribbon verb to draw a section line across the plan. Each section line
defines a cut and its viewing direction and generates a section view of the layout along that
line — useful for showing equipment elevations and vertical clearances.
Section geometry is included when you export to DXF, so your section marks and cuts carry
through to CAD. See Exporting.
3D section planes
In the 3D view you can enable a section plane
to slice the model interactively — drag its offset to move the cut through the room, or add custom
planes. This is a live viewing aid in 3D rather than a drawn section on the plan.
Use 2D section lines for documentation you'll export, and 3D section planes for on-screen
inspection.
