# 2D, 3D & Split views

Source: https://meptools.com/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/views/

Plant Room Studio shows the same layout three ways. Switch with the view control in the status
bar, or press **V** to cycle 2D ↔ 3D.

## 2D plan

The plan is where you build: draw the room, place and rotate equipment, add
dimensions and sections, and read validation. It's a top-down millimetre-accurate view with a
grid you can show (**Shift+G**) and snap to (**G**).

## 3D model

The 3D view builds a model from the same placements — room shell, columns, doors, and each
equipment item at its footprint, height, and mount elevation. Use it to check heights, mounting,
and how equipment reads in the space. Editing is done in 2D; the 3D view reflects your current
layout. See [Working in 3D](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/working-in-3d) for navigation, measuring,
viewpoints, section planes, and display options.

## Split view

**Split** shows the 2D plan and 3D model side by side, so you can edit in plan and watch the model
update at the same time.

## On mobile

On a phone or narrow window the tool opens as a **read-only viewer**: you can open a saved project
and use the views, but editing is disabled. Build layouts on a desktop-width screen.

When the layout looks right, move on to [Exporting](/tools/plant-room-studio/docs/exporting).
