# Saving and exporting

## File menu

The **File** menu offers:

| Entry            | Effect                                                              |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **New**          | Detaches the current project and resets every input to its default. |
| **Load project** | Opens a previously saved project.                                   |
| **Save**         | Saves to the current project.                                       |
| **Save As**      | Saves the current inputs as a new project.                          |
| **Rename**       | Renames the current project.                                        |
| **Autosave**     | Toggles automatic saving; the menu shows **On** or **Off**.         |

Saving and managing projects requires an account. Signed out, the menu shows **Sign in to
save & manage projects** in place of the save actions.

## Keyboard shortcut

**Ctrl + S** (**Cmd + S** on macOS) triggers **Save**.

## Export PDF

**Export PDF** is available two ways: from the toolbar's primary action button, and from the
File menu under a **Report** group. Both trigger the same export.

PDF export is gated on the **`export.pdf`** entitlement. If your plan does not include it,
the button carries a **pro** badge; selecting it does not generate a report — it routes you
to upgrade instead. This applies to signed-out and free users alike. See

The report is titled **"Voltage Drop — Cable Selection Record"** and is built from the same
inputs and result on screen from your last **Calculate**/**Recalculate** run — both Print and
Export PDF are disabled whenever the inputs have changed since that run (the rail shows
**Recalculate**, not **Calculated**), so the report can never contradict what you last ran. It
contains:

- A **summary grid** — overall implemented-checks status, voltage drop (% and V), current-capacity
  status, corrected current capacity (A/run), design current, and maximum one-way length.
- **Cable selection and provenance** — cable family, selected size, installation method /
  reference method, and the exact BS 7671 ampacity and voltage-drop source tables.
- **BS data provenance** — the edition, verification date, and source tables the tabulated data
  is drawn from.
- The full **calculation steps** — every audit formula (symbolic, substituted, result) with its
  source-table reference, matching the on-screen steps.
- The **cable size comparison** table and the smallest suitable size (or a note that the
  comparison is unavailable when a manufacturer override is active).
- **Assumptions and warnings**, and the full engineering disclaimer.
