# Saving, sharing & exporting

## Save, Autosave, Save As, Rename

- **Save** (`Ctrl/Cmd + S`, rail, or File menu) stores the current document as a project. You must
  be **signed in**; a guest or unverified account sees a prompt instead of saving:
  - Signed out: "Sign in to keep this calculation" — your inputs stay on this device until you
    create an account.
  - Signed in but unverified: "Verify your email to save" — the prompt offers a retry once you've
    verified.

- **Autosave** toggles on/off from the File menu.
- **Save As** and **Rename** manage named copies of the project, same as every other tool — see
  [Projects & saving](/docs/projects).
- **New** discards the active project and returns to a blank document (it does **not** reload the
  worked example).

## Share

**Share** (rail button) or **Copy share link** (File menu) copies a URL that encodes your current
inputs — every stage, including the fitting schedule (label and K per row) and the units you
picked. It does **not** encode a result: whoever opens the link sees your inputs restored with
nothing calculated, and a banner telling them to press Calculate. Copying a link does not save
anything to your account, and it is unrelated to the **Save** action above.

## Print vs. Export PDF

These are two separate report actions, gated differently:

| **Print**      | Rail "Print", File menu "Print report"    | Free, every plan | Opens your browser's print dialog (choose "Save as PDF" there) on the current result; carries a **DRAFT** watermark unless your plan removes it. |
| **Export PDF** | Rail "Export PDF", File menu, Report card | **Pro**          | A branded PDF with your project header and logo, no watermark. Shows a `PRO` badge and prompts an upgrade on a plan without the entitlement.     |

Both actions read the **currently displayed** result — if it is marked **STALE**, Print and Export
PDF are disabled until you press Recalculate, so the report can never show numbers that don't
match the inputs on screen.
